Melanie
lives up to her motto, "Copy written right the first time, on
time" as she crafts effective copy for print, broadcast and
electronic media.
Her
writing and insightful concept development have helped market
the products and services of AT&T, Banker's Trust, Bayada Nurses,
Blue Cross/Blue Shield of New Jersey, Brother International,
the Gannett Syndicate, Johnson & Johnson, Jones New York, Norwest
Mortgage, Novartis Pharmaceuticals, Rutgers University, Spencer
Trask & Co. and the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
Before
opening her communications practice in 1984, Melanie was on
the public relations staff of St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital
Center in Chicago. She graduated magna cum laude from California
State University, Hayward with a major in mass communications
and a minor in women's studies.
A
firm believer in peer networking, education and support, Melanie
co-founded the Network of Writers and Artists, Inc., and she
helped develop the Somerset County Chamber of Commerce Small
Business Advisory Service. She has given many workshops on networking,
marketing and public relations.
"My
presentations focus on practical techniques and take-home messages.
That's the key to my copywriting as well. I avoid jargon in
order to create effective copy that delivers a client's message
clearly and gracefully," says Melanie.
Melanie
has judged the 2003 and 2002 Jersey Shore Public Relations and
Advertising Association's JASPER Awards. Awards for her own
writing include a Certificate of Excellence from the New Jersey
Art Directors Club; Small Business Advocate of the Year-Media
Advocate, U.S. Small Business Administration, Newark Division;
and Outstanding Woman in Somerset County-Journalism Category,
