Currently, our regular meetings are informal roundtables held on the third Tuesday of the month. Bring your thoughts and inspirations, and share, or just listen. We meet at the Somerville Diner at 79 Route 206 North (about one mile south of Route 22).
Cost: $10.00 for non-members and $5.00 for members, plus the cost of your breakfast.

NOWA is always interested in adding new talent to its ranks. NOWA membership has many benefits. If you are an independent creative professional who is interested in joining or simply investigating what NOWA is about, come to a NOWA meeting. Feel free to contact one of our board members.

September 2008

J.R. Bale was invited to teach a course in public speaking at Middlesex County College.

August 2008

Harvey Barry has moved his company, Vision Works Unlimited, into its new facilty in Raritan, NJ.

January 2008

J.R. Bale was invited to give a seminar on creating PowerPoint presentations, including the effective use of animation and designing flexible "non-linear" presentations.

October 2007

J.R. Bale designed the curriculum for a new marketing course, Marketing Information Management, to be taught at Gibbs College. New curriculum for degree-granting institutions must be approved by the college, the State of New Jersey, and ACICS the national accrediting body.

November 2005

Three NOWA members assisted author Steve Vogel with his new self-help book, Take Control of Your Life. Vivian Fransen and Peggy Gallos helped with editing and proofreading, while J.R. Bale designed the book cover.

October 2005

Melanie Davis has been retained by a New Jersey education foundation to develop and implement a three-year, $1 million fund drive that will create a self-sustaining endowment for educational grants. She is also using her marketing communications skills to raise $1.25 million within 14 months to fund a community's synthetic turf field.

June 2005

J.R. Bale was asked to do on-camera interviews for the Merck-United Negro College Fund Science Intiative. J.R. interviewed African-American Science Fellows about the their views on science, the UNCF and opportunities for American-American scientists in the pharmaceutical industry.

 

October 2004

Congratulations to J.R. Bale, whose advertorial campaign for the SMA Foundation won an APEX Award of Excellence.

September 2004

Congratulations to Melanie Davis, who earned a 2004 Jasper Gold Award from the New Jersey Shore Relations and Advertising Association. She won the Excellence in Writing—Brochures catergory for capabilities brochure she wrote for Creative Samples, LLC.

October 2003: Welcome New Member

Welcome writer Daryl English. She writes marketing materials through her company Cutlass Communications.

May 2003: Special Thanks to those who worked on the Portfolio Showcase

Thanks to everyone who participated and worked to make the showcase a success. Special thanks to Melanie Davis who made all the arrangements with the Bridgewater Marriott, and who create those great tool chocolates; to Jody Jacobus who illustrated our "talent toolbox"; to Ronni Buffington who made the toolbox 3-D, to Frank Peluso who promoted the showcase at CAMA, to Vivian Fransen and Peggy Gallos who did PR; to Sonia Morais who helped build the database and was our welcomer, and to J.R. Bale who sent out the postcards.

Welcome video producer and director, Judy Minot. Judy has a long list of broadcast and corporate work to her credit.

Welcome new members Carol Goodale and Carter Dreves, and returning member Jody Jacobus. Carol and Carter are writers. Jodie does web work, illustration and faux painting. Special thanks to Jodie for creating our "talent toolbox" cartoon.

  February 2003: Pursuing Higher Education

Peggy Gallos has begun studies at Rutgers University for her masters in public adminstration. The degree, through the Rutgers Executive MPA program, prepares Peg for leadership roles in the non-profit and public sectors.
